![]() ![]() Once the design is decided upon (and it has to work with current computers, phones, etc., without slowing down communications between Internet 2 devices), someone has to come up with more money than the current national debt of the US to put it into place. (I'm not invited to sit on committees any more - I'm retired and out of the industry.) Maybe by the middle of the century. The idea is being talked about - that's as far as it's gotten, AFAIK. Internet 2 is going to be designed for speed. So even if an email from the NY office had to go via trans-Atlantic cable to England, then to Europe, then to Asia, then via trans-Pacific routes to San Francisco, it would still get there (in a week or so). The internet was designed for "eventually", not "immediately" - IOW, for the IRS to be able to keep collecting taxes even if half the country was destroyed by a nuclear war. You could build your own internet if you have a few quadrillion dollars lying around not doing anything - otherwise, no, there's nothing you can do. (It slows down during the summer too, when school is out.) The internet normally slows down starting around the day before Thanksgiving and doesn't speed up again until school starts after the new year. Think 70mph interstate during a particularly heavy rush hour. All the millions of new computers will be on the internet slowing it to a crawl. ![]() ![]() (If you can watch a Youtube video without a pause - on any computer - on Christmas morning, you'll lucky. If you're experiencing what I was experiencing get them to replace it just be prepared for possible 10-12 business day wait. That's called buffering, and it's caused by the fact that the data isn't coming down the internet fast enough for the picture to keep playing. So it was NOT a connectivity, either hardware or wifi signal on my end, it was indeed the unit but WHY did it work fine at the Apple Store? Local Apple store diagnosed & tried the unit at the store & NO PROBLEM? So confused because I thought for SURE at the store it would still be an issue. Bought a brand new mesh wireless router, still problem. Brought bedroom ATV4K downstairs & did NOT have the issue. Just a reminder, I went through every possible "at home" fix, new HDMI cable, switched power cables, switched ATV4K box from living room to bedroom & still had the issue. No delays, no freezes all videos' playback at very beginning with pic & sound, including commercials, which I could have done without but oh well it's still fixed. They said 3-5 business days, ended up being 12 business days!!!! Hooked it up & all is right again. ![]() Not sure WHY the ATV4K worked at the Apple Store? Just odd? But now I'm not 100% convinced that a brand new APTV will solve the issue? If it doesn't then the only thing I can point to is the connection to my Sony Bravia 55". Here’s how: Open the YouTube app and tap on the profile icon in the upper right corner. Bought a new wireless router (I was using the old Apple Airport Extreme up until last week) & even with updated wireless router still had the problem. If YouTube keeps pausing, try disabling the Data Saver feature. I bought a new HDMI cable, still had the problem. Took the AppleTV from the master bedroom & played it in the living room & didn't have the issue so it wasn't the TV connection as far as I can tell. I replicated the same issue in my master bedroom TV. But I took a video on my iPhone just in case to show that it's an actual issue & they agreed so since I had Apple Care they offered to give me a brand new one & it's on order now. They hooked up it & of course with my played perfectly on several different videos & formats. I took my ATV 4K to the Apple store to get checked out. I think videos' with less than HDR resolution played normally right when chosen but maybe it's the 1080 & high resolution that has a "connection" issue. I just tried it & the first video popped up instantly, "YEAH FIXED"!.But no, because I tried it on a few more videos & still the same issue. ![]()
